A Chief Technology Officer for Canberra organisations.
Technology and executive leadership from Programbuilt: a Chief Technology Officer in the chair, and the commerce, finance and sales systems that scale a business, built, deployed and run by one team.
Scaling from $1 million to $20 million? That is exactly where we do our best work.

We design, build and deploy the systems that automate and scale your sales and your payables.
The first problem worth solving is how to automate your sales and payables.
Programbuilt
Programbuilt is enterprise-grade commerce, finance and operations engineering: revenue engines that sell, collect and pay, run on your customer data and your own operating logic, with frontier models optimising and then automating them end to end.

We work across trusted frontier models and the platforms your bank and your accountant already trust: Anthropic and OpenAI models running under your own operating logic, every dollar in and out on Stripe’s PCI DSS Level 1 rails with 3D Secure and Radar fraud screening, data on Google Cloud and Supabase Postgres with row-level security and encryption at rest and in transit, and the ledger kept honest in Xero, MYOB or QuickBooks through their official OAuth APIs. Nothing exotic, nothing you cannot inspect.
The problem - Selling more keeps costing you more.
Whatever you sell, the walls are the same four. Count how many you are standing at.
You pay for software you can't drive. The big-name platform seemed like the answer. Now you pay for it every month, the team touches a tenth of it, and the business still runs on spreadsheets around it. Roughly a third of small business software spend goes to tools nobody uses.
Hiring is your only growth lever. The only way you know to sell more is to add another salary. Every hire brings wages and management overhead, and the profit you were chasing walks back out the door as payroll.
The selling is slower than the demand. You could sell more of whatever you sell tomorrow if the selling itself did not crawl. Every order still waits on a human to chase it, take the payment, raise the invoice and match it in the books.
The race you can't see. Nobody sends a memo when a competitor automates past you. Their checkout closes sales while yours emails a PDF, and their books close themselves while yours eat a weekend. You find out when the market tells you. Move first.
Sell more, with fewer hands on it.

The founder - Founded by an owner. Built by engineers.
Programbuilt was founded by Kevin Mack after thirteen years running a national events business on the systems it builds today. Every program starts from that seat: an owner who wanted more profit and less doing, and built the technology to get it.
Programbuilt
Your technology chair, Chief Technology Officer · Canberra
We build systems that sell, take the money, and do the books.
The track record behind it: thirteen years as a CEO, growing a business on technology, a hundred and fifty shows, $60 million in revenue, and a Shopify Build A Business award in media and technology.
But the years are not what made it work. The technology is. Every year the goal was the same, make more profit and do less. So we built systems that solved the same problems once, instead of hiring people to solve them every week: the checkout, the invoices, the reconciliation, the chasing.
Canberra runs on organisations that outgrow their tools quietly: associations and member bodies, firms serving government, and owner-led businesses holding real transaction volume on spreadsheets and goodwill. They rarely need a department. They need a Chief Technology Officer for a stretch, and a system that holds after the engagement ends.
Everyone shares one goal in modern business: to own a modern money-making machine. We build them.

Questions - The questions owners actually ask.
What is a fractional CTO? A Chief Technology Officer engaged part-time: senior technology leadership, the architecture and the technical decisions, without the full-time salary. Programbuilt goes further than the usual version of the role. As well as making the decisions, we design and build the commerce, finance and sales systems that scale a business, then run them live. Growth engineering is the work; Chief Technology Officer is the chair.
Do you take interim CTO engagements? Yes. An interim CTO is the full-tilt version of the role: the technical founder left, due diligence is on the calendar, the build stalled, or the agency is gone. Programbuilt steps in for a fixed stretch, stabilises the systems, makes the decisions that cannot wait, then hands over to a permanent hire or steps back to a fractional cadence.
What does it cost? Two builds, each a fixed price to a fixed scope. Light is US$3,999, delivered four weeks from your start date. Pro is US$8,499, delivered in eight. US$100 books your onboarding and comes off the price, and both builds carry a twelve-month warranty at no cost. No retainers, no day rates, no menu.
What do you actually build? The money path, end to end: checkouts embedded on your site, booking and sales systems that take money, and the finance behind it, invoicing, payables and reconciliation into Xero or MYOB, automated. On the top tier, the growth and advertising engine on top: PPC agents, attribution and AI visibility.
Do you work with Canberra organisations remotely? Yes, and in person when it matters. Programbuilt is Melbourne based, an hour away, and the engagement runs through your own client portal with progress visible daily. The calls, the workshops and the handover happen on your clock; the build itself is asynchronous.
